Tania Brown was elected as a Councillor for Ward 2, Wollongong City Council (WCC) and as Deputy Lord Mayor in September 2019. She was elected as WCC representative to the Illawarra Sports Stadium in 2020.
Tania is also Chief Operating Officer at the University of Wollongong’s SMART Infrastructure Facility. In 2009 Tania was a Senior Ministerial Policy Advisor, having spent 13 years working for State and Federal Governments. Tania served as Chair of Destination Wollongong from 2015-2017 and remains a current member of that Board. In 2017 she was elected to the Board of the Illawarra Performing Arts Centre and is now Deputy Chair. In May 2019 Tania joined the Board of the Illawarra District Rugby League Club Limited.
Tania is a Graduate of AICD and an active member of the Illawarra community participating in many local charity campaigns including the St Vinnies CEO Sleepout, NSW Cancer Council’s ‘Stars of Wollongong,’ Chair of the Illawarra Centenary of ANZAC Committee, and as a Director for the Wollongong Hawks.
