Dianne Elvy is one of Illawarra’s most dedicated and respected sports administrators, who has been involved in Netball for around 50 years. Dianne began playing netball at age 11 and has spent most of her adult life volunteering for the netball district to spread a love of the sport among generations of children and adults throughout the Illawarra.
After working in many capacities, Dianne was elected President of the Illawarra District Netball Association (IDNA), a position she has held for 11 years with justifiable pride and distinction. During her time as President, Dianne with help from her Committee organised five NSW State Carnivals hosted by the Illawarra District at its home in Berkeley. These carnivals amass over 5,000 players with up to 10,000 people involved. The work that goes into hosting these carnivals is immense and to have organised five of them is incredible. They have created enormous opportunities for netball players in the Illawarra, as well as valuable opportunities for local businesses, given the number of people they bring to the region.
Dianne was welcomed as a director of Illawarra Sports Stadium (ISS) in 2010 where she remains a vital contributor and has, as part of her portfolio, ensured the continued enhancement of the successful relationship between ISS and the IDNA.
In 2021, Dianne Elvy was named the “2021 Wollongong Electorate Woman of the Year” acknowledging her decades of work, fostering and growing the netball community in the Illawarra.
