Graeme Haney is a vastly experienced senior manager, whose broad knowledge and strong interpersonal skills have enhanced the operations and productivity of a variety of entities within the finance, energy and sports management industries.
High on Graeme’s priority list is giving back to the Illawarra Community, so after serving three years as a President/Chairman of the Illawarra Basketball Association, he accepted an invitation to join the Board of the Illawarra Sports Stadium in 2018. He is an individual who enjoys being a key member of an achievement-orientated team that delivers results and thrives on meeting the constant challenges of successfully completing projects with an innovative, enthusiastic and methodical approach. Key areas of expertise include stakeholder engagement, resource maximisation, marketing strategy, relationship building, financial control and establishing a culture based on teamwork, integrity and mutual respect.
Graeme holds a Masters Degree in Management from the University of Wollongong and was honoured in 2000 when he, as General Manager and his team, the Wollongong Wolves, were awarded the ‘Keys to the City of Wollongong’, for being the first regional club to win the National Soccer League. The club again won the national competition in 2001 and the Oceania Championships to qualify for the World Club Championships in Spain.
Graeme was awarded a ‘Centenary Medal’ in 2000 for his contribution to junior and senior sport, a ‘Long Service Award’ from Basketball New South Wales in 2017 and ‘Life Membership of Illawarra Basketball Association’ in 2020.
Graeme is focused on maximising the value of the Illawarra Sports Stadium to the Illawarra community and ensuring the facility remains viable, innovative and relevant.
