ISS and Illawarra District Table Tennis Association (IDTTA) have organised a learn-to-play Table Tennis Program for Kids. The Program has been developed by the IDTTA and will consist of 8 x 1 hour sessions. Participants will be trained by Table Tennis Australia accredited coaches at ISS.
Program Lessons (1 hour sessions)
Day 1: introduction to the game, the grip and forehand topspin (attack) followed by rec games.
Day 2: introduction to the serve, followed by rec games.
Day 3: reinforce the grip and forehand topspin and introduce backhand topspin, then rec games.
Day 4: reinforce the grip, forehand and backhand topspin; introduce forehand backspin (defence), then rec games.
Day 5: reinforce grip, forehand/backhand topspin, forehand backspin, introduce backhand topspin (defence), then rec games.
Day 6: serve and rally in pairs followed by rec games.
Day 7: introduction to doubles followed by rec games.
Day 8: singles round robin.
When
This Spring school holidays, September to October - fours days per week over two weeks. Session times are 9:30am to 10:30am. Session days TBD.
Program also offered after school during Term 4 - one day per week, 4:30pm to 5:30pm. Session day TBD.
Equipment Available
More than 10 tables can operate at any one time. Bats and balls are provided.
Linking to the local Table Tennis Association
At the end of the eight sessions, children can become members of the IDTTA so as to continue in the sport on a regular basis. The NSW Active Kids voucher can fully cover the IDTTA registration fee (normally $20).

The first four Program sessions are free; a small $5 fee will apply to all the remaining four sessions. So only $5 per participant for the whole program! There is ample car parking on site free-of-cost.
